Our family went on a vacation to Oahu, Hawaii during July. We all had fun and were able to make new friends. Some of the sights we took in were, North Shore, the Dole Plantation, Sea Life Park, Shark's Cove, and others. Our favorite activity was going to the beach and my personal favorite was snorkeling.
Though we enjoyed it, we were glad to get back home (Hannah especially). She didn't take long to get over the jet lag. Within a day, she was back playing with Justice.
We've been working on getting our house back in order (bills, mowing the lawn, etc.). We've both gotten back into our church callings (we're Mormon). I work with the young men (ages 14 & 15) and Micaela works with the young women (ages 12-13). We've had a pool party together while last Wednesday I took the boys, along with the other age groups (12-13 & 16-17) and their leaders to dig out Brother Gaskin's to help install a new fence.
We're thinking about getting the back bedroom remodeled and adding a food storage room. We want to aggressively add to our 1 year supply of food. We'll be getting bids on that this week along with getting bids for new sod. My dream is to tear down this house and start over again. It would be a modest home with a basement and second story, considering the plot size we're on. I want its architecture to match that of the neighborhood during the time period when it was established (at the turn of the 20th century). But it's just a dream for now. I would rather do that, though, than move away. You get something here that you don't get in many parts of the Wasatch Front: down-to-earth, genuinely nice people.
Tomorrow, we're going up to Mutual Dell in American Fork Canyon for a family get together with my family (it's Labor Day). It'll be the firs time all of us siblings will have been up there at the same time for many years. Justin's been working in Arizona for a few years; he's back up to Provo for law school.
